Sutter Creek

My Dad asked us to run an errand for him, so Saturday after  Ben's game we packed up and drove the 30 minutes to Sutter Creek.  My great-grandmother (who also happens to be the woman I'm named after) lived in Sutter Creek for around 50 years.  Our family still owns her house behind main street.  My parents, aunts & uncles, my cousins and my siblings all have the happiest memories of roaming the streets of Sutter Creek.  Even though my kids never knew my great-grandmother, Sutter Creek has become a place over the last few years that they love, too.

On Saturday we had a picnic lunch in the backyard, then took a walk up the street, over the bridge, up the stairs and around the baseball field to get to the park.  The kids love this park.  The monkey bars here are uneven, something Ben had never seen before.  He failed getting across at least eight times.  But he persevered and we were so proud of him when on try number nine, he made it.  I've never in my entire life been able to do the monkey bars, so I'm glad he takes after his father on this one.

Speaking of his father, check out the difference between Mommy pushing Lia on the swing:

And Daddy pushing Lia on the swing (from the look on her face I should have named this post Centrifugal Force):

Don't worry, she loved it.  After the park we strolled down main street and back to the house.  We only had time for a quick trip, but the kids begged us to stay the night next time we go.  That is a trip I definitely look forward to.
