Last night Ben reminded me that just because I do these things to show them love, it's not necessarily how they receive love. Ben had been politely hinting for a few weeks that he really would like a note in his lunch. In the morning rush I kept forgetting to comply. So while Darrin was tucking him into bed last night, Ben told his Daddy that he wanted me to put a note in his lunch the next day. And he wanted me to put a note in his room, telling him that I put a note in his lunch. Okay Ben, I get the message!
So this morning after getting up at 5am, working out, having breakfast and getting myself ready for work, I wrote two love notes to my beautiful six year old baby boy. It took me five minutes at the most. I hung one up in the hallway so he would see it after exiting his room, and the other in his lunch. When he woke up in the morning and remembered his request, he popped out of bed and started searching for the first note. The grin when he saw that one would have been worth an extra hour of work! What an easy way for me to tell my son that I loved him, in a language that he could hear.
