Sailing, Takes Me Away

Tonight's blog is absolutely dedicated to my beautiful sister and her boyfriend, Evan.  Tomorrow morning Evan gets deployed for eight months, headed out to sea with the Navy.  Because we're at war, Evan can't tell us where he's going or what his mission will be - whether he's going into danger or going to drink rum in the Caribbean.  I'd like to think it's the latter.

I know many people disagree with our country's fights these days across the globe.  But I hope that everyone appreciates what our enlisted women and men, like Evan, do for every one of us in keeping our way of life safe.  Evan has trained for over a year (maybe two?) for his deployment and will be ready if danger comes calling.  It's certainly not something I would want to do, and I would worry constantly if that's the path my children chose.  But I am so thankful for the Evan's of the world who heed the calling to serve our country.

Evan, we'll keep an eye on CJ for you while you're gone.  You just keep yourself safe and come home to us in eight months - maybe with a suitcase full of rum.  Now that will be a party!
